Laura’s calm and compassionate presence fosters a safe, open, and judgment-free environment where folks can be comfortable being their true selves. She is pursuing her Master’s Degree in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from New York University after returning to school in her 40s to achieve her lifelong goal of being a counselor. Laura believes that no matter the age or stage one is in, it is never too late to make a change. Believing that her clients are the experts of their stories, her goal is to hold space with unconditional positive regard and empathy.
Throughout her academic journey, Laura has been drawn to trauma-focused, person-centered, and strength-based therapies that focus on the mind/body connection and acceptance. Laura has training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and the treatment of PTSD as well as experience in supporting individuals who are navigating grief and healing. Laura's passion in the field is driven by her own experiences navigating complex cultural and family dynamics, including life transitions, illness, and loss.
When Laura isn’t working, she enjoys watching reality TV and Golden Girls, as well as traveling. She never starts a day without having coffee with her two dogs and two cats.
